| 10 August 2010 UK Edition | Dear Reader, When you read as much health news as I do, you're bound to see some ridiculous headlines. The mainstream press, fearful of rocking the Big Pharma boat, often throws out only the softest of headlines, even when presenting the most damning of evidence. (Of course, we don't see the same treatment of natural cures and alternative medicine — there, even the most flawed studies get rabid coverage — as long as they show that natural medicine will kill us all!) This one was a porker, though. "Cholesterol drug side effects need watching: study" How nondescript can you get? "We're not saying anything about the side effects — not even what parts of the body are affected or how severely — just that they should be watched." They probably thought that this way, nobody would read the article and Big Pharma could just go on with their recent campaign to get us all on statins for... well, for everything. So what does this study actually say? That people using cholesterol-lowering statins have higher risks of liver dysfunction, kidney failure, muscle weakness, and cataracts. I guess none of that was worth putting in large print at the top of the article. Researchers from Nottingham University in the UK looked at more than 2 million people and found, while the risks are there for all statin use, they're worst in the first year. They also said the risks are similar for all types of statins. They also said the findings aren't likely to affect the use of big-name medicines like Lipitor and Crestor. Well, when the story only gets soft ball headlines, it's no wonder. And, come on — aren't we done "watching"? Not a week goes by without my reading at least one article or study adding more evidence to the "just say no" column for statins. But the mainstream's on a mission to get us all on statins, one way or another. So we can't be too harsh in their treatment. Otherwise, people might start catching on that they're bad news. Continues below... "Words cannot describe what this has done for my joint pain and for my life!"
Discover the secret new science that's helped 94.2% of users reduce their pain from "excruciating, distressing and intense" to "mild" or "none" in just 14 days - simply by pulsing their pain away.... ..and yet I almost threw it in the bin!

Soothing and healing psoriasis Q: For 20 years, I've suffered from psoriasis. Nothing my doctors have given me has worked. The skin on my arms looks so scaly that I just hate going out. Please help. Dr. Jonathan V. Wright: Long-term natural psoriasis therapy requires allergy testing, elimination, and desensitization, and in many cases, improvement of digestive function with hydrochloric acid/pepsin and digestive enzymes. It also requires eliminating all sugar, refined food, and alcohol. I know cutting these things from your diet isn't easy, but having seen some of the devastating social effects psoriasis can have, I'm inclined to believe that giving up that occasional nightcap (or whatever you might be sensitive to) is well worth the sacrifice, considering the trouble it can cause. There's also a natural formula called Psoriazide Forte that can help ease your symptoms while you're working on your diet and allergies. Psoriazide Forte is a combination of nickel, bromide, and fumaric acid. One 600mg tablet per day helps alleviate psoriasis symptoms in the majority of people who try it (although, like nearly any other treatment, it doesn't work for everyone). You can get Psoriazide Forte from some natural health food stores as well as online resources. Bear in mind we are not addressing anyone's personal situation and you should rely on this for informational purposes only. Please consult with your own doctor before acting on any recommendations contained herein. Wishing you the best of health, Andrew Miller UK Editor In the latest issue of Nutrition & Healing, Dr Jonathan V.
