From Nancy Schimelpfening, your Guide to Depression
Have you heard the old saying that if all you have is a hammer then everything looks like a nail? Well, therapists and psychiatrists are just as guilty of this type of thinking as anyone. You see, there are several medical conditions that can cause depression-like symptoms, such as fatigue and depressed mood, and these conditions will require a different treatment than depression does. If you go straight to a psychiatrist or therapist, who does not specialize in detecting these conditions, you may not get proper treatment.
