From Marcia Purse, your Guide to Bipolar Disorder
I've had a computer meltdown and currently can't answer email, so this is a good time to point out that if you need to manage your subscription to this newsletter, such as switching it to a different email address, you can do so by going to the bottom of this page and clicking on the link there. In fact, this is always a faster and better way to manage your subscription than by sending an email to me.

I Should Have Known Sooner
Reader Candlerc talks about the symptoms leading up to being diagnosed with bipolar disorder: "I was tired of living life not knowing what was going to happen day to day. I was tired of alienating my family, friends, and co-workers. My grades were suffering and I could hardly leave the house."

Injury Brought on Mania and Panic
Reader Ashraelle, who has Bipolar 1 Disorder, rapid cycling, injured a finger seriously while doing yard work. This brought on both severe mania and a panic/fear reaction. He tells about some self-therapy techniques that helped steady his mood again.

One Huge Argument - Spiraling Symptoms
Reader Shannon, talking about her bipolar disorder diagnosis, says, "Looking back, I had many symptoms dating back to high school years. I firmly believe that bipolar lay 'somewhat dormant' through my early twenties to mid-thirties and that the fight with the ex brought all of it to the surface. I almost wish that the early years somebody, even me, would have known what to look for."

Planned Surgery - Prepare in Advance
Community member ManicCarousel describes her experiences before and after she had knee surgery. Her moods and symptoms were strongly affected throughout the period, and she learned some things along the way that might help you in a similar situation.
