Poll: How Do You Low-Carb?
A few years ago I did a poll about how people approach their low-carb eating. Now I've posted a new one, and I'm curious to see how the landscape may or may not be changing. Do you follow Atkins or another published popular plan? Or one of your own? Vote in the poll and tell us about it!

Kate Middleton Adding Carbs to Gain Weight
I'll admit I got a kick out of this one - Kate is trying to regain some weight she's recently lost so she can fill out her wedding gown. Her mother is trying to do the opposite - both by changing the carbs they are eating, but in reverse ways.

Low-Carb, High Fiber
Have you heard that low-carb diets must be low in fiber as well? Don't believe it! Find out all about fiber in your diet, and then check out this list of low-carb high-fiber foods.

From Elizabeth Woolley, your Guide to Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes treatments and knowledge have advanced a lot in the past few decades. However, we are often still in the dark ages when it comes to pregnancy. Movies and TV shows sometimes tug at our heartstrings and cause many of us to feel (or even advise) that pregnancy is impossible. With good medical care, treatment, and tight control of blood sugar, women with diabetes can have about the same chance as a woman without diabetes for a successful pregnancy and birth.

Lose Weight With Exercise

From Paige Waehner, your Guide to Exercise
Too often, when it comes to weight loss, we spend a lot of time on what we haven't accomplished - either that, or we downplay what we have accomplished. For example, I had a client who lost a few pounds and, when I tossed confetti in the air while doing my happy dance, she said, "Okay, so I lost a few pounds, but look at how fat I still am?"

Clearly, I need to work on my happy dance moves.

We all do that from time to time, but I'm convinced that celebrating success is much more motivating than punishing yourself for real or imagined failures. To that end, your challenge this week is to celebrate your successes, big or small...every single one. Got out of bed? Success! Put on your workout clothes? Success! You get the point. Whether you celebrate with a happy dance is totally up to you.

Celebrate Your Success
When I see my clients each week, I hear a lot about what they didn't do and, sometimes I'm amazed by the things they say. For example, one client... Read more

Vote: How are you doing on your resolutions?
It's hard to believe, but January is nearly over and it's a great time to check in with yourself to see how things are going with your workouts. I'm mentioning this because I'm already noticing a little drop off at the gym...Read more
