| | This week I have some exciting, disturbing, and thoughtful articles for you, but my favorite is this week's Creative Spotlight, "Keyboarding With My Cat." I have three cats, Lucy, Cricket and Buzz, and they ALL walk on my keyboard at times. Lucy is a lap cat and doesn't interfere often; Cricket wants to be HELD in my arms and is annoyed by my typing; Buzz is the explorer, walking back and forth from my worktable to keyboard to desk. Thus Bipolarbear's poem is a real treat for me! | | Early Results Positive for New Bipolar, Depression Treatment Researchers at the University of Utah Brain Institute have had positive results using two substances - creatine and uridine - naturally produced by the human body to relieve symptoms of major depression and bipolar depression. | Slashed Mental Health Funding - Call the Cops? Because of reduced funding for mental health services, more and more police are the only recourse when someone with a serious mental illness becomes a danger to him/herself or others. | Bipolar and Crime in the News Again *Sigh* This time it's young Philip Bay, convicted on all counts stemming from his arrest in 2009 in what was called a plot to blow up his high school in Virginia Beach, VA. The evidence is clear that Bay planned and manufactured explosive for at least two years before his arrest. What isn't and never will be clear is whether he was "insane" at the time. | Creative Spotlight: Keyboard With My Cat As I said above, I love this prose poem. Even if you've never owned a cat (or maybe a ferret), you'll enjoy Bipolarbear's description of his (and his cat Oprah's) adventures in keyboarding. | | | | Bipolar Disorder Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | More from About.com | | | | | | Great Gadget Gifts iPad or iPod?
