Keloid And Hypertrophic Scars And How To Non-incisively Remove Them Posted By: Corey Evans
Two types of scars which are the result of the body over-synthesizing collagen, which will cause the scar to be raised above the nearby skin. Hypertrophic scars will take the shape of a red elevated lump on the dermis, but do not develop beyond the borders of the original lesion, and they commonly improve in look after a couple of years. Keloid scars are a more significant type of scarring, because they can continue growing indefinitely into a large, tumorous (though benign) scar. Each of those hypertrophic and keloid scars are more common on darker skinned and younger people. They can appear on anyone, but some people have an inherited tendency to these types of scarring. They usually are originated due to surgery, an accident, or in some cases by acne. In some people, keloid scars appear spontaneously. Although they can be a cosmetic issue, keloid scars are only inactive accumulations of collagen and for this reason absolutely inoffensive, painless, and non-contagious. They are typically most common on the chest and shoulders. Keloid scars are most common among the population of Asian and African-American populations.
