In the United States, there are several ongoing and recurring lawsuits which take place against the manufacturers of certain pharmaceutical products if the taking of those products results in harmful side effects. One product of this type is Accutane. This is a product manufactured by Hoffman La Roche that was primarily marketed as a drug to fight acne, although it was originally developed as a chemotherapy drug. In 2009, a recall of this drug was issued due to the massive number of lawsuits being levied against the company which involved personal injury from the side effects of the drug.
