From Ann Pizer, your Guide to Yoga
Destination yoga is my new term for the growing trend in yoga travel, including retreats, conferences, and festivals. Destination yoga combines yoga with a vacation, a gathering of like-minded individuals, and a chance to expand our yoga horizons through community and intensive study. Destination yoga is coming soon to a location far away from you...

Yoga Retreats
Most people take a vacation to get away from it all, but students of yoga are increasingly using their hard-earned holidays to deepen their yoga practices by combining travel to exotic places with intensive yoga programs. If you are considering going on a yoga retreat, these tips will help you know what to expect and ensure that you will have a great, relaxing trip.

Yoga Festivals
The summer is filling up with yoga festivals, which combine sessions with top yoga instructors with live music, often in an idyllic, natural setting. These festivals are big business though, so expect to encounter a measure of commerce with your bliss.

Yoga Conferences
Yoga conferences provide yoga students with a weekend of yoga exploration. They usually include classes with prominent yoga teachers of both asana and philosophy. Yoga Journal magazine is a major sponsor of yoga conferences, with several events taking place each year in locations like Colorado and New York City, but regional yoga associations are also beginning to put on conferences as well.

Pose of the Week -Sleeping Vishnu - Anantasana
So fun to have sleeping vishnu pop up in class last week. I used to have a teacher who taught this all the time and I got pretty good at balancing on that knife's edge, but it's been awhile and I was wobbling all over the mat. I love that it's easier for me to do crow at the moment than to lie down on my side. Just goes to show the value of practicing a pose regularly.
