I can still hear the psychologist's voice in a Law and Order episode as she said, "He's bipolar," as if that explained why the defendant had committed murder. It infuriated me then and still, in reruns, perpetuates a dangerous stigma. Thus I was delighted to read about research that shows I was right to be angry about that.
