One of the first things you learn when beginning a cholesterol-lowering diet is to stay away from fat. However, all fats are not created equally. While there are some fats you should stay away from, there are other types of fats that are considered heart healthy.

Understanding Your Fats
There are two main fats you need to educate yourself on if you are trying to lower your cholesterol: saturated fats and unsaturated fats. Although there is one type of fat you need to consume minimal amounts of, the other type of fat is actually heart healthy.
