From Cory Silverberg, your Guide to Sexuality
After working in sex for over 23 years, and living for additional 17 where my "work" in sex was of a more amateur nature, I've just begun to grasp the catch-22 that is identity in our lives. Most of us crave and benefit from having an identity that we experience outside of ourselves, something we can relate to and feel connected to others through, a basic structure we can use to build our own experience. But identity is also a trap. It fools us into thinking that the differences between identities is greater than anything, particularly than the differences between individuals. And this is absolutely false. In this way identity can keep us apart from people who would otherwise be allies, friends, lovers, teachers and students. There's no answer to this problem, and as I said, I'm really only beginning to understand it for myself. But what it means for me is th at when I encounter someone who is working around identity, I approach slowly, with an open mind, caution and lots of thought. If you don't already do it, take some time this week to think about identity. Which ones do you use, how has that changed over the years, and how comfortable are you now with the identities you choose, and the ones that are chosen for you. ~ Cory

Asexuality: The Making of a Movement, interview with directo
Thanks to a small group of outspoken individuals and the global connection the Internet is slowly opening up, asexuality, as an identity and a movement, is coming into it's own. A new film that documents the people and the movement is in production, and I sat down with the director to find out more.

Reconciling the Sexual and the Asexual
Does "being sexual" have to include wanting to have sex? Is sexual attraction or desire (or arousal or orgasm for that matter) such an intrinsic part of the definition of sexuality that without one of these things you're not sexual at all?

Cash for STIs: How Do You Spell R-E-S-P-E-C-T
A study, presented at the 18th 18th International AIDS Conference in Vienna this week is proposing to pay people so they don't get STIs. The preliminary study suggests it "works". So what's wrong with this plan?
