What Is Acne and What Causes It?

Often the worst thing about puberty is the acne that comes with it. Teenagers become traumatized by their bad skin and try to cover it up. Adults many times also suffer problems due to acne. Acne is bacteria and oil laying uder your skin.

Do you know what Acne is? A common skin disease is acne. You will find that it is a determining factor in clogging pores that create blemishes, along with white and black heads. There are two types of acne that can affect people.

There are two types of acne. Acne comes in a non-inflammatory form, which leads to the formation of whiteheads, or pimples filled with pus because of the body's reaction to bacteria under the skin. This variation also includes blackheads. This happens when the pore opens and allows sebum to become oxidized, which is what gives it the black color that it takes on. If the sebum does not release moisture quickly enough, blackheads can stay for a while.

There is a second type of acne known as inflammatory acne. An infected or irritated whitehead is what causes inflammatory acne. This will result in skin flaws like blemishes or boils. It can also result in greater issues like cysts. A physician's supervision is often needed to treat this form of acne.

The knowledge of where acne occurs can help you understand what causes it. In the skin, within the sebaceous glands and hair follicles, dirt collects and acne forms. Over active sebaceous glands during puberty will also cause more bacteria to be produced. These bacteria are called Propionibacterium Acnes and are usually present in the skin. An excess production of this bacteria is what causes acne to appear on the surface of the skin. Simply put, clogged pores are the primary reason for acne outbreaks.

Fortunately, current medical advances has resulted in many products for acne and teenagers no longer have to go through the same embarrassing phase. So if you are a sufferer of acne check and see what treatment will work for you.
