The meditative practice of yoga nidra might be just the ticket this week as we recover from one celebration and prepare for another. We'll also take a look at restorative yoga as we spend some time relaxing before the start of a new year.
Have you ever been in savasana at the end of yoga class, and just when you feel yourself start to relax, your teacher calls time? Have you wondered what a longer, deeper period of relaxation would feel like? What it might do for your stress levels and your health in general? Well, I have two words for you: yoga nidra.
Another way to relax this week is with a restorative class. In restorative yoga, props are used for support the body so that you can hold poses for longer, allowing you to open up through passive stretching. It's a great way to chill out.
I often decide on the pose of the week by asking myself which pose I'd most like to do right now. Today, that is a supine spinal twist. My last big meal was a few hours ago and I just want to lie down and let gravity work me into this twist. In fact, I think I'll go ahead and do that. Want to join me?
