How To Manage Stress

From Elizabeth Scott, M.S., your Guide to Stress Management
I once heard someone mention that dealing with the many stressors, annoyances, and energy drains in their life felt like being "pecked to death by ducks." This phrase has always made me laugh, and describes the feeling so well! How would you feel if you were able to eliminate some of the "ducks" in your life? This newsletter brings resources to help you do just that. Take the rest of the week to focus on eliminating even one or two of your energy drains, and next week will be a less stressful week! -Elizabeth

What Are Your Tolerations?
We have a word for all those annoying "ducks"--they're known as "tolerations." Anything in your life that drains you, especially if it's unnecessary, can be thought of as a toleration. Most people become so used to the drain of their tolerations that they don't even recognize these stressors or think about what they can do to eliminate them. Read on for effective ways to identify these stressors so you can cut them out of your life for good.

Where To Begin?
You may have dozens or even hundreds of tolerations in your life. How can you know which tolerations deserve to be eliminated first? This article can help you decide where to begin in cutting these stressors out of your life, and determine which actions will bring the biggest payoff.

What Are You Tolerating?
What are the energy drains that you're tolerating in your life? Sometimes the act of sitting and thinking about some of them can be motivation enough to change them. And sometimes reading about what others are tolerating can help you realize that you may be tolerating certain unnecessary stressors as well. Share what you're tolerating in this Reader Response article.
