From Ann Pizer, your Guide to Yoga
If the winter had dog days, February would be the start of them. The novelty of pretty snow has worn off for most people and the prospect for weeks, if not months, of more cold weather looms large. A yoga retreat to warmer climes may be just the thing to get you through until spring.

All About Yoga Retreats
Most people take a vacation to get away from it all, but students of yoga are increasingly using their hard-earned holidays to deepen their practices by combining travel to exotic places with intensive yoga programs. If you are considering going on a yoga retreat, here's some info on finding a reputable program and what to expect when you arrive.

For Those of Us Staying Home
Going on a retreat is a great way to perk up your practice, but if that's not in the cards for you, there are other ways to reinvigorate yourself, especially if you feel like the new year's resolution buzz is starting to wear off.

What's the Best Time to Do Yoga?
You may have heard that some yoga systems recommend an early morning practice, but does that mean you should write yoga off just because you're addicted to the snooze button?

Pose of the Week - Half Moon Pose - Ardha Chandrasana
I recently noticed that I had fallen into a bad habit with my ardha chandrasana. In my hurry to reach my arm up to the sky, I was neglecting to get my hips in the correct position first, making it difficult to get the full expanse of chest opening this pose can offer. My suggestion is to pause after configuring your legs and let the back side of your hand rest of your sacrum. You may be surprised to discover that your back is turned at a slight angle toward the floor. Continue to open up until yo ur sacrum is perpendicular to the floor. You can then either raise your arm or keep it on your back.
